83 300d "diesels" at turnoff
I am looking at an 83 300D with 238,000 miles on it. Rebuilt transmission, updated A/C and new shocks. The owner says it keeps chugging for a few seconds when you turn it off. He says he thinks it has to do with the vacuum system. Any comments? I know nothing about these, yet!

Do a search in the Diesel Discussion forum, this is very common. The fuel shut-off that stops the engine is powered by vacuum. A vacuum leak can cause the engine to keep running after it is turned off.

my sd diesels for under 2sec after key is turned off, i figure its fairly normal, because its not going to be instant off like a gas engine is, it'll run for a sec until there is no diesel in the injector lines, but maybe i'm wrong and i have a vacuum leak!!
