300SD Water Pump Update

I'm pretty sure the post I created about my water pump leaking got clobbered when the website crashed.

Anyway, I wanted to post an update on the situation. Water was leaking from the front of the engine, but didn't appear to be coming from the water pump. However, I replaced the old one anyway and while I had it off I took a digital picture of the inside of the housing, which was pretty chewed up. See thumbnail. The new water pump did not cure the problem.

I got a replacement water pump housing from engatwork (thank you very much ), installed it today and it did the trick. Upon further investigation of the original housing, the deterioration at the bottom was not where the leak was coming from. Instead a pin hole, that can only be seen when light is shined behind the housing was the culprit.

This is the first time I've driven the car in about two months. Man, there's nothing like driving a MB diesel.
