Temperature switch in engine bay....causing blower not to work?

On my 1982 300D, could the temperature switch in the engine bay (above the thermostat) possibly be the reason my blower is not coming on in the car? The previous owner replaced the ACC and refurbished the blower, but no air is coming out right now (hot or cold, though I believe the air compressor and heater are fine).

Do I check it with a vacuum guage? If so, how?

Thanks,

Pete.

The vacuum switch is for the EGR. The engine temp lockout switch is electric. Disconnect wire at switch and ground to engine. If blower then comes on, switch is bad.

Ahhhh. Thank you. For some reason I thought I saw a vacuum hose coming out of it. Will look again tonight.

Thanks,

Pete.

you're welcome. The 2 switches are right next to each other, so a vacuum line from one usually drapes over the electric switch and makes it look like that.

For the electrically challenged..., do I just disconnect the wire and touch it to the engine block? (with the ignition turned on, but engine off so I can hear the blower).

Thanks,

Pete.

Yes. The switch provides a ground for the blower motor when it reaches the specified temp. You just need to jump (bypass) the switch.
