New to the board

Hi everyone,
I'm new to the board, and somewhat new to diesel performance, but I've been building 1000rwhp gasoline race cars for years. I'm really excited to see that there's actually a group of people out there modding these wonderful cars. I have two 300SD's. One is an '83 and the other an '84. I started noticing little power improvements when I cleaned out about an 1" of sludge from inside the intake manifold.
Last night I decided to see what sort of boost the '83 was running (before I found this board) so I ran a boost gauge. To my surprise it was peaking at 9psi and falling to about 4 by redline. I assumed this was due to a restriction in the exhuast so I cut out the two inline mufflers and replaced them with a straight pipe and its now holding 10psi for the whole powerband . Then I found out about the ALDA and the car is a whole different animal. Anyway I just finished putting an intake on and making an oil seperator.
I have a few questions for ya. I'm about to put an EGT gauge in and am wondering what sort of temps I should be seeing? I'm also about to add an IC and I'm curious what sort of boost these motors can handle, and at what boost/power will I run out of fuel?

TIA,
-Berty
