87 300 sdl injector line leak

Hello,
I have a 87 300 SDL with 18900 miles. I started to smell fuel the other day and have found a leak at the injector line.
It is spraying out between the line and the compresion nut. The nut seems snug so I do not want to over tighten it.
I backed the nut off and tightened it back down but it still sprays. Is the line bad? If so is there a good site someone could
recommend to but the line and other parts?
Thank you for your time
Michael

A quick search should have located a recent discussion on this very symptom. Seems the 603's might be known for cracking injector lines, especially if the little chingaderas between the lines are missing. Chances are you need a new injector line.

I agree that the plastic clamps can cause lines to vibrate and start leaking (why did MB make them out of thin tubing? It look to be less than half the wall thickness oflines on the 617 engines!) but if its leaking at the compression nut it is probably due to having been overtightened, that will crack it for certain!

If you want to go into shock call the dealer and price one, otherwise call Phil here at Fastlane. Order the injection line clip/holders that will be removed - old plastic is not flexable :(

I am dealing with two different lines that cracked within two weeks. So I've decided to replace all of the remaining (5) lines this weekend. They are about $40 per line. I don't know if they were over tightened or not. I suspect not, I just think they crack from vibrating year after year. Some one will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they might crack at a joint where the end is welded on.

That is correct - somewhere on here I have a pic of that from my fiasco.
