Red face Strange occurence, blinker fell off!

My dad was going down the freeway today in his 83 and he heard a bump, and then saw his right front blinker assembly go flying away!!! it is gone....it just...broke off, light bulb broke, and the rest flew away, gone. Is there anyone with a parts car or spare assembly who would sell us one? We kinda need it.... Right now its just the mounting hole and cord/socket. What happened is the tab from the assembly where it screws on cracked/split apart, probably from age, then it just fell off.

Anyone who could sell us one would be very very appreciated.

never good when parts fall of your car going down the road..............

Last car that did that was a 1968 Fiat 500 I once owned.

No one out there with a W126 parts car who'd be willing to sell one?

Nevermind, found a guy on ebay selling aftermarket good ones brand new for $29, including the light socket! Sure beats $81 + shipping for the OEM! The seller is "OemEuroDirect.com" and has all positive feedback, so the stuff must be good. My dad chose to buy both, so one isn't more orange than the other. (mine is that way, right one was replaced at some point.....eh, I don't care) So both lenses brand new with shipping, $67.49 not bad!

A fiat???!! I love that one. I had a buddy whose Fiat kept rattling apart on the highway, literally... Sold him an 86 Alfa Romeo, which was only rusting apart, much less exciting than rattling apart. He was happy.

I couldn't be seen in a 500 (status thing) so I had a 600.

Mine actually was quite sturdy.

The same thing happened to me but I didn't notice until after I came out from a supermarket.
Luckily at that time someone here was parting out a car. Still a PITA.
