how can i make this shifter fit?
well i found a zebrano wood shifter in germany that i got cheap via ebay, but he did not say what mercedes he got it from, and it wont fit on my 300D. i can see that right away. it is threaded on the bottom, and the 300D's is not. how do i remove the shifter from the 300D. it looked like i have to take the black plastic piece off that guides it in P,R,N,D,S,... it looks like a hex nut at the bottom of the metal rod, but i dont think i could find a piece that will let me change it.
any help would be appriciated

obviously
this shifter is for a stick. your car is automatic, right?
you will have to sell it to me. seriously, you can cut off the automatic shifter and weld on the end of a manual shifter or a part of a bolt of the same threads. if that seems too complicated, i am interested in the shifter, for real. tom w

shifter
i am interested in the shift knob, depending on the price.
i have never tried to remove the knob on an automatic but they look to be molded on. so my advice in the post is not from actual experience but is a guess based on visual observations. if i turn out to be wrong about it i aploogize in advance. tom w

The shift knob on your 300D screws off at the base of the metal portion, inside the black PRNDSL box. Just grab the know & twist counter-clockwise real hard.
The metal stick is part of the knob, so you'll have get another zebrano wood one w/ the metal part integrated into the knob... http://www.carpartsdiscount.com/product/SK_123Z85
