Cleaned Fuel Sender Unit on 300D
YUCCCH!
1st, Thanks Boosterbenz for DIY. Today I removed the fuel sender and cleaned it up and so far it seems to be working properly. 1. got the giant socket from a mechanic I know. Kept it hand loose and drove home. 2. Able to remove bottom clip with a small set of pliers very easily...Just apply soft firm grip and turn unit to loosen. The fsu disassembles very easily. Then I found the GUNK. (No pics unfortunately. My son thought his digital camera was at a friends....) 3. The best tip I have is to use a small spray can of Electronics Cleaner from the AP store, used for car batteries. Spray everything including the inside of the casing tube, which otherwise would be a ***** to get clean. I had one and it cleaned like new without touching the FSU and disturbing the wiring. The stuff cleans and dries in seconds. I then gave a quick spray of Anti- corrosive battery terminal spray on the contacts just for good measure. 4. Reverse steps to assemble, and so far a working Fuel gauge.... |
