Rattling noses?!?!
so i am in total loss as to what is making the rattling noses in my car... here is what occurs usually:in the mornings, or simply when its cold outside, i seem to hear more rattling. also when i turn my fan on, the rattling increases in loudness. but this also occurs when i am slowing down and/or coming to a stop. and sometimes when i am turning the rattling noses come to be. and once in a while it just rattles away as i am going down the road. so if anyone has any clue to as what the nose may be, please let me know. thanks!!!

If the engine mounts are shot, you can get kind of a groaning noise when turning or coming to a stop. When the mounts are totaly shot, there can be banging noises, like engine arms hitting the chassis. Fan blades can hit things under those conditions also. Blower noise is probably another issue.

could the engine mounts have been effected during an engine swap?
|
Sounds more like air filter housing. Possible broken bracket, mounts or just loose. I put threadlocker on mine.

That is a good point. The air cleaner mounts broke on my 75.
If an engine swap was done, that would have been the perfect opportunity to change the mounts. Normally they are good for 150K or so, but 30 years is a long time for rubber to survive. |
i would go look at the air filter and all that right now... but its storming like crazy out there right now... i will look at it soon though, and let you know. thanks!

Put on some gloves and see if you can rock the engine back and forth by hand hard enough to cause any metallic noises.

What does all this have to do with "rattling noses?" I'd recommend a good decongestant instead.

ill take a look and let ya know
