Driving Lights for a 300SD

Hey guys, where should I go about mounting a set of driving lights on my 82 SD? I am planning on using the 1x3 inch pilot Lo-Profile lights. I'm not going to get into how I am going to wire them in, but, let's suffice to say that it will use stock controls.

I thought of this, those metal panels that run under the headlights and Fog lights, could I have my body guy cut nice perfect-fit holes to mount the lights behind? Do you think this would be a good mounting spot for optimum visibility. I need these for Deer spotting.

Thanks! I'll keep ya'll posted on progress.
