1985 w201 5 speed part #

i could not get the hood open at the u pull it yard, but the transmission is in and the car is manual.

5 speed 1985 190e 2.3.

please tell me it can handle the "power" of a 240d and bolt up with not too many issues!

thanks a lot!

my understanding is that ransmission has the starter on the left of the engine while the W123 has the starter on the right side.

go look....I bet thats what you will find...never heard of a non-W123 5 speed fitting our cars...

i have no reason to not believe you about this.

i just want a manual in the car(240d). lately i am putting a lot of work into it to fancy it up a bit(new veneer, seat heaters, amp/sub) and i dont want to change cars completly over again!

would i be a burden if i asked what transmissions will interchange with my automatic/616 engine?

i see a w123 part number on an early w201 car on some parts website, but i can trust youall more than "www.anotherbenzboutique.com!"

any 240D manual..adn I believe the 200D and the 220D from the early 70's.

You are better off finding a 240D parts car with a good trans so you get the other goodies you need to do a swap. IT will have everything you need.

Those are the 4 speeds.......5-speed 240D or 300D Euro transmissions are as rare as hens teeth...and priced up there with gold egg laying geese.

are they priced higher than good 240d automatic transmissions?

ill have no need for mix & match transmissions!

anyone want an automatic for the 4 speed swap?

heh heh i am fixing to take the car to ohio, if anyone is on the way:)

I think they are cheaper.(the manual 4 speed)..and more likely to find in good condition than a used automatic.....

Get the tranny, shifter, console, driveshaft assy, and clutch pedal assy, flywheel& clutch, and see how long it takes to find somebody willing to pay you $800-1000 for the lot.

mr t-- i cannot PM you, you have too many messages in your box!:P

how big a job is dropping the transmission in a w201?

blackprent 11-09-2005 12:28 AM

190e 5 speed

I realy need the shift rod for the 190e manual 3 Rods that connect to the trans to the shift lever if you can get them I will pay you for them.

dropping

the tranny shouldnt be too bad. i would thind about the same as in a 123. i would expect to be able to get it all out in 2 to 3 hours. but if not using a lift it would be a pain unless they would let you put the car up on its side. if you do that be careful cause the car would want to come back down as its center of gravity will be low. big braces would be in order. i would think.

i think standard practice dictates my removing all of the engine mounts and transmission mounts, unhooking everything and then letting it plop to the ground, drag it out and then unbolt it from the engine.

maybe some of those shyster seedy guys that lurk around the expensive car section will do it for me?
