vacuum control unit

When replacing fuel cutoff will oil drain out of injection pump also I put clear line on nipple and sucked in with mouth and line filled up with oil is this a total rupture of cutoff unit and if left like this for a little while will it contaminate the entire cars vac. lines or would it be isolated to that vacuum line. Thanks for any info.

You will not lose any oil when you replace the cut off valve. If you don't you will get oil into the complete vacuum system. No good. I had oil running out under the dash from the key switch. Ruined a good pair of pants. I also filled the heater vacuum lines with oil.

I remember a long time ago, one of the professional techs posted a sure fire diagnosis for oil in the vacuum system. Suck on the vacuum line. If it tastes like motor oil, it's from the vacuum pump. If it tastes like diesel fuel, it's from the shut off solenoid.

The small amount that you would injest is so minor that it's probably more unhealthy to walk past someone smoking.

A leaking vacuum shut off leaks motor oil not diesel.

How would diesel get into the shutoff solenoid? I've had one out and there is no contact with diesel fuel....

on the OM617 engines anyway...

Flow is towards the vacuum pump not from the vacuum pump......

If its coming from the instrument cluster, it's probably the oil pressure gauge leaking. If you're luck it's just a loose connection to the oil sensor line.

Sounds like a mess, it doesn't take much oil to make a HUGE mess.
