Question Cleaning Fuel Injectors

I heard from a Mercedes Benz mechanic that the easy and economic way to make a good clean up on Diesel Fuel Injectors is this: Periodicaly when changing your main fuel filter, fill it up with transmission fluid before placing it back on engine. After this procedure done start your engine normaly as every day. There will be some smoke until the transmission fluid be burned out. This is the best injector cleaner for diesel engine, was his words.
Question: It really works or is only a waste time?
Thanks.

Some people swear by that I think its an old wives tale personaly.

Diesel purge the injectors for the cheap fix. If you want it done perfectly pull them and have a shop test and fix them.

I've read that transmission fluid will deposit ash on your injector nozzles, so I wouldn't use it. If your injectors are clogged with carbon, Diesel Purge may help. If they're worn due to corrosion or just wear and tear, you'll have to replace the nozzles and no cleaner will help.

One thing to keep in mind is that ATF has changed drastically over the last few decades. Perhaps it worked well as a cleaner back then but the consensus today is that there are much better products for that purpose.

I swear i should bookmark this page
http://dieselgiant.com/injectorcleaning.htm
Follow thoose directions... You can use only one bottle (theyre kinda spendy), and it will still work (probally not as good)... but I'm paying about $20 a bottle on ebay... and I JUST found some for $15ish a bottle at https://www.************************ (search for diesel purge)

Not sure what everybody else's paying. Try to get diesel purge locally, and its really easy to do. For me, the hardest part of it was not driving the car on diesel purge (dont have my full lisance yet)

Call up all the part stores you know, and ask if they have Lubro Mollys Diesel purge DO NOT SETTLE FOR DIESEL KLEEN!!!

I am finding purge on ebay for $8 bucks per bottle...I have gotten 2 orders thus far...The auction is for $16 but if you look close it is for 2 bottles...plus shipping...So with shipping its a little over $11 bucks each...Strangely enough, this guy has a picture showing 1 bottle but in the description it is 2...I ordered it and got 2.

I've been driving MB Diesels for 35 years and ~500,000 miles and have not cleaned any injectors. I don't use any cleaners either.

I replace a few injectors because they caused knocking. I replaced them with used injectors from other engines.
