td roof rack

was at the dealer the other day and saw a really nice 123 wagon, in manilla beige, with new roof rack bars and a pair of adjustable cross bars and some of those "keep it off the paint" strips.

the car only jad the side moulding and trhe rear star. it loked very nice that way. no model lettering and since the locks worked i couldn't open the fuel door to see if it was a diesel.

any idea where i can acquire the crossovers and the "kiotp" strips?

I've seen both in the junkyards but very rarely... I have both and leave them uninstalled as the cross bars make alot of noise and the strips make it hard to wash and wax. Sorry- neither are for sale however.

The crossbars pop up used in the parts forum very rarely. I found a pair in a junkyard a couple year ago and sold them there. I've been on the lookout for another pair, but no luck so far.

although clunky

i used to have a couple of 2x4s that i notched to fit down over the racks. i bungied them down for the occasional large object hauling. i would never retrofit strips becasue of providing a place for rust to start.

Every once in a while crossbars show up on Ebay. Saw a new old stock pair last summer that brought around $150. Still in the original package too.

I've got the crossbars and the strips. The crossbars fit nicely in the compartment in the floor of the cargo area. Strips are a pain to clean around but have saved the paint many times for me.

Haven't seen the strips anywhere for sale.

Cheers,

Bill
