Passenger door map holder
I was meaning to replace my passenger side door check today, but the door panel is held on by the map holder. I've tried squeezing in, pushing down, pushing in and up, in and down, in and in...
Wondering why the driver's side was so easy, I noticed that the map holder on that side was fixed with a screw coming from behind the door panel. Apparently the PO didn't know how to do it either. Anybody know what needs to be done here? |

They should push up and them come right off. Maybe the screw that the PO put in is too tight and it needs a bit of loosening.

i don't remember completely and i'm talking about a w123 sedan here but they should be the same...
the map holder doesn't attach with screws anywhere.. i don't think it holds the panel on to the door either... in fact, i think you need to remove the whole panel to take the pocket off... most of the pocket just has tabs that pop into the slots in the panel, except the one closest to the back of the car.. this tab is the same shape as the hole in the panel it passes through... to hold it on there is a metal clip behind the panel that you need to rotate by 90 degrees.. once you rotate the clip this tab is free and the pocket should be movable enough to get the rest of the tabs out.. all this is pretty hard to explain but all will be made clear once you get the panel offf and see the back... ok, i was thinkin, if you do have to get the map pocket off without taking the whole panel off i suppose you could pop off the bottom of the door liner and feel behind for the clip.. it would be hard but i suppose you could rotate it with a screwdriver or something...
