Diesel-Therm

Does this device have merit for diesel (non-veggie) application in cold environment?

Thanks,

Diesel-Therm: Heating Temp

The manufacturer Web site reads as follows:

"Once Diesel-Therm is activated, there is a flow regulated heating of fuel. The heating process is displayed by a pilot lamp, which automatically switches off when reaching the heating temperature (approx. 40° C / 104° F)."

Waste of money.
Roughly $140.00 USD + S&H, and it does not heat high enough.
You can beat the price.
A simple tube coil wrapped around the filter, with engine coolant flowing through, will heat to roughly 200F...

Read this threads links for fuel heating system information.

Ken said he does NOT run veg oil fuels so I'm guessing he wants to heat diesel in a cold climate. Making them would be cheaper as Whunter states.

BTW, the unit that is heater only (not a heated filter) is $97.0353 USD. A bit cheaper than the $140 USD heater/filter units.

There is an OEM MB diesel fuel heater for sale on Ebay as of yesturday. Little spendy was my thoughts though.

Check current currency conversion rates.

The figure of $140 was based upon my last lookup of currency conversion rates, here is a link to what it is at this moment...

http://www.xe.com/ucc/

Live mid-market rates as of 2005.11.19 16:22:28 UTC.

70.00 GBP United Kingdom Pounds = 119.869 USD United States Dollars

1 GBP = 1.71241 USD 1 USD = 0.583973 GBP

Remember to add S&H and customs delay to the billing figure.

The system offered is a waste of time and money, even for a diesel in Michigan spring/fall weather, it basically offers maximum 100F in a few cubic centimeters of fuel.

Jelling occurs inside the injection pump, fuel filter, fuel lines and fuel tank.
Several of the systems used for veggie conversion are manufactured for ARCTIC condition DIESEL equipment...

I was always skeptical, but I thought I'd ask as these things are all over the Net...thanks all for the insights...
