Leaking Radiator

Looks like there is a small leak in the radiator, car runs hotter then normal and it's losing coolant, not much but I have to refill every two weeks.

Should I replace the entire radiator or have the radiator fixed at a radiator shop?

If its the brass tank radiator repair it.(or even recore it).......if its the plastic tank radiator replace it. Not sure which was in the 1979 300CD

Consider using a more established shop that's comfortable with recrimping the plastic tank if that's where the leak is. I had that done successfully a few years ago for $40, but I had to talk the fella into trying it, and he's been at it for over 40 years. You probably already know that long term you'll need to replace it. Shop around, prices vary widely. After my hose neck cracked, I bought a new one for $170 delivered.

radiator.com, 1-800-248-8720. However, I'm very wary of their website. I started on another site which I can't remember and got redirected. Fed-Ex did the delivery and damaged the first 2 radiators during shipping. The 3rd one was OK, because they double boxed it. The brand was a Valeo. Just don't commit to a price over $200 and keep looking, you'll find it.

How about $201 with shipping?
Occasionally I buy from SMitty's, they have a Valeo for $201

Not that I like Valeo, I prefer Behr. I had a bad expeience with a Nissens (other people love them!)

I prefer Behr also. But $201 for a Valeo is fine. I can't see paying double for the Behr.

I called them and they have a radiator for a good price, $179 but I'm a little wary about the brand: CSS, never heard of it.

Its 30 year old plastic it is probably brittle as can be.

G1000-16136 Radiator Valeo IN STOCK $247.79

Right off Fastlane.

I would still ask Phil to price out a Behr. If its only another $50 or so I'd spring for the Behr. I'd rather get a good one and not have it blow in traffic 500 miles from home.

No plastics in this radiator, this thing weights a ton. I went to a very good radiator shop in Santa Monica; for $105 they will rebuild it.

ok my 2 cents worth

get some alumoy and a propane torch...
find the leak... break the fins out and
heat it to 700 deg and stick the alumoy to it.. and it
will be fixed...
