1989 190 D rough idle and heavy smoking
The car has 240 k on it and has a miss at idle and smokes alot a . I ran a can of diesel purge through the pump and it smoothed out nice and stoped smoking. The it went back to a bad idle and smoking when I hooked the fuel lines back up.

lots of smoke from my well used diesel
Sounds like you have low quality fuel in the tank, poor injector spray pattern, low compression, late injector pump timing, or a compination of these things.
The fact it ran well on the injector cleaner is good--tending to reduce possibility of low compression and injector pump timing. I'd recomend dumping that tank of fuel and filling up with some 'premium' quality diesel, and recleaning the injectors before doing anything else. Low fuel quality is very costly over the long run. |
