shift points

i took my 300D out today and it was shifting high.. im guessing it starts in first but it was going up to around 4k to go up to the next gear after starting.. i know this cant be normal.. or is it? i bet its something with the vaccume as the tranny was replaced by the p/o

bowden cable...was this with pedal floored or at partial pedal? To raise the full pedal shipt point tighten the bowden cable...to loewr them (full pedal only) loosen the cable.


Part pedal shift problems are something else altogether.

where would this bowden cable be and how to adjust

i just took it around the block and after taking off from a stop at WOT it took til 4.5k to shift up.. so would the bowden cable be something to adjust?

what is the redline on these engines

i wonder if the mechanic that put the transmission in wasnt familare with mercedes's or just forgot about the bowden cable all together

its the cable that goes to the top of the valve cover from the passenger side firewall area.

turn addjuster clockwise to loosen cable....turn adjuster counter clockwise to tighten cable...(lookong at it from drives side)

i just adjusted it.. man it was all the way out so i screwed it in halfway...

Mines white....and just like a brake adjustment on a bicycle...just look at the end of the cable on the valve cover....it is held by somethnig threaded..screw that in the required direction to either put more or less tension to the linkage....more tension = higher shift point...less tension = lower shift point....applies to the rod linkage of the older ones also(pre cable)
