Tank Cleaning
Well Paul ;
I have mucho experiance in dealing with cruddy & rusty fuel tanks and this one didn't have any dirt or crud in it , just the fungus slimy stuff so I wanted to try out a bio cleaner , it worked a treat ~ maybe only because it was the enzyme typ , I duuno but it's now clean as a whistle and all I hadda do was change the filter.... We have a steam rack and wand at my shop or if it'd been rusty I coulda de-rusted it with Phosphoric Acid and then lined it but not this time . -Nate [QUOTE= Paul Tank is very easy to remove. If it was that bad in there, I would remove it & pressure wash it out if you have or can borrow one. Paul. 300CD '84[/QUOTE]

That A----e (sorry, my mind's still on the swearing thread) is really messing up the fungus....amungus. Now all I have to do is picket the fuel additive makers to stop marketing their product as A----e killers. Pete. P.S. Thanks, you made my day (actually, the machinist is going to make my day if I find out that he was able to get that bolt out of my 300D). |

Removing The In Tank Screen
Getting it is out dead simple : just use a 1/2" drive 6" long extension on the 46 M.M. socket then a long flex handle to give you sufficient leverage and it spins right out . it was a bit of a push getting the hose barb unscrewed first .
Looks like you'll also be getting MORE POWER now you've cleaned the screen , I think everyone here should make a simple flow test to see if this is needed then clean the screen if necessary ~ I bet a lot are clogged , I see lots of clogged screens on the gasbags I work on . -Nate Quote:

Getting The 46MM Socket on It
You have to place the jack stands so the rear suspension hangs free for sufficient clearance ~ I just now realized several folks here are placing the stands incorrectly ~ one should NEVER place staftey stands underneath susspension components unless it a horizontal axle or like that , using your trailing arms is how cars fall off hoists in shops and kill people ~ I've been there when it happens and it's not pretty .
asfter you have the saftey stand placed and lower your jack , ALWAYS shake the car vigerously to ensure it won't suddenly topple over and crush you ! do this befire you go underneath it ! . Quote by I'm broke : Maybe yours was like that,, but mine was a little different. Had to loosen the tank so it would slide over a little bit to get the socket on. Once that was done, it went smoothly. Getting the little hose out was no problem. Seems like ours were opposites.. I replaced that hose too,, it was kind of nasty looking. ***************
