how many w126 owners in az?

the reason i ask is i have a few parts that im getting rid of for next to nothing. i have a rearend ass.(subframe, diff, trailing arms,cv shafts. it needs new rubber on it but other than that it should be good:$50, i have a front bumper(needs new paint) $20, one hood(has been painted on) $20 with grill. all this is strickly pick up. i cant ship anything. i also have a 617 with tranny(missing bellhousing bolts, vacuum pump bolts alt. ac compressor, and ps pumpand needs turbor rebuilt) . $100 but must bring a lift that will roll across the yard with a couple people pushing. also little misc. parts laying around that i will give away. if anyone is interested pm me. these are all out of a 1983 300sd

Six others from BMW, GM, and Ford.

Numbers in AZ

Hard to say. But from my observations I'd say there are considerably more 123's than 126's here. And yes. AZ is a diesel unfriendly state. $3.50 per gallon. BS!
And you have to have them tested for emissions every year if they are newer than 1966! Still wont stop me from getting one though. Or two, or three...

why wont they fail

I'd appreciate knowing why they wont fail the emissions test? And yes, it's only cars in Maricopa County that have to do emissions test. I should have mentioned that.

because there is really no good way to measure it. the soot will throw the machine off. i have taken them for emissions with the egr hooked up, unhooked, valves not adjusted, valves adjusted, new air filter, old air filterand have never failed. as for the price of fuel i dont know where your going but i just paid $2.58 and have been paying $2.69 before that. you know i find it funny that someone is allways needing a 617 engine and can never find one for less than a couple hundred bucks yet when i offer one for next to nothing everyone acts like im asking $1000 and has to make all kinds of jokes. so the hell with it, ill just donate it somewhere if everyones gonna act like im an idiot for trying to help someone out with a cheap engine.

"it's only cars in Maricopa County that have to do emissions test."

And Pima county. the test is so lenient you would have to have something wrong not to pass. I always rev to the high end of the test screen, then, when it begins testing, ease off real slow while staying in the test range.

The test consists of a device with a light that reflects off a mirror to measure the opacity of the smoke. Seems pretty primitive.
