Banjo bolt is in the intake manifold.

I fail to see the reason why this exhaust manifold would increase the horsepower. I wonder who cast it?

Its interesting.. but I don't think it would help. Exhaust restriction doesn't seem to be a problem in these cars, and being able to bolt on a bigger turbo wouldn't help either (our turbos can already create far more boost than the engine can use).

Interesting piece, though.

i can get more exhast flow to my turbo if just take out a dremel and heavy duty cutting wheel and start porting it and then sand down finer and finer to polish it as far as i can reach.. then do the same to the turbine inlet..

well thats what we did for a gasser with a turbo

I've seen it. I might believe it would help since the inside of the OEM manifold is a very rough casting. I had the inside of my manifold smoothed out when I did my CA to fed swap on my '85. I felt a definite increase in power but I did ditch the oxidizing catalyst and put in a different turbo at the same time.

I thought I did in my above post. I'm so old that I have the double gear shirt patches back when the top staus was referred to as a "General" mechanic instead of "Master" mechanic.

My idea is: save your money for something that works. This exhaust manifold he has does nothing to improve our air flow and his claim of increased power without increased fuel consumption is just plain unsupported BS.

BTW there is nothing "fancy" about that manifold becuase a T04 Garret blah blah blah is a STOCK TURBO.

I see that it says something about tuning on it, but it was cracked and cast welds are hit or miss...if the person knew what they were doing or not.

If it cracked once who is to say it won't crack again?

Honestly, with so little complaint about the stock manifolds and their resistance to cracking, I wouldn't fork out the cash for this thing.

IF you want something special...build a header

I think I will have more success by wraping my exhaust manifold with header tape. Yes, it looks like a performance part, but until I see independant dyno proof I'm not going to bite.

Yeah, saw that...even bid on it. Wanted it to build a jig to experiment in making a header. Want to use 1/2 in thick flanges and the jig to bend the pipes up. Probably just tack weld it and get a good welder to finish the job. Then off to jet coat in Oklahoma City for their heat coating. Might even add heat wrap and finally build some stainless steel shields to keep heat from any surrounding items. The stock cast iron exhaust will probably flow enough, but a header will transmit the exhaust pulses better, and allow the turbo to experience a better "throbbing" exhaust wave that would probably spool up the turbo quicker. This would help the low end grunt on acceleration. So, anybody got a stock exhaust manifold to contribute to this experimental project?

Oh, yeah, if this does work, would not be legal unless I figure out how and do add the exhaust gas piping (EGR)....to pass visual safety/smog checking.

You don't get more power without more fuel....however with this you could get more boost with less charge heating but you would have to do other mods to capitalize on that...

I think a T3/T4 hybrid would be a better choice than a T-4...the T-4 would spool slower...

It looks exactly like the stock manifold off a W116 300SD. All it's got extra is a T4 flange and an external wastegate mount. Over priced at $53 after shipping. Go get a W116 manifold for $10 and get a newer GT or VNT turbo.
