Tools for a tie rod assembly change
Do I need and special tools to change a tie rod assembly on an 82 300TD. Or do you enlightened folks have any helpful hints. I have to change mine here real soon.
Thanks Andrew |
On my W126 I needed one 17mm wrench and two 13mm wrenchs. Then a fork and hammer to break the old tie rod end lose.
A large set of plumbers wrenches is needed to turn the tie rod end in the tube, well at least for us northern members. |
If you live in Autozone or Advance Auto territory, they will lend you the necessary "special" tools. Also, buying the entire tie rod assembly is usually cheaper than buying just the rod ends. Easier, too.
