Seat Switch Question
This is on a 1983 300SD.
I need a seat switch for the front drivers side. I removed the old one and it has the wires that plug in. I cannot repair the switch because all of the knobs and pins got knocked off with a basketball (don't ask). I see several on ebay that is for this year model but they all have the memory (mine does not). Will the switch with the memory still work in my application or do I need to find one that does not have the memory. The part number for the one in the car is 003 820 14 10. I have not found any used ones without the memory. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Rodney |

I replaced my drivers side switch with one that had the memory buttons. I opened the switch and removed those parts that didn't apply to my car and it works fine.

Rodney,
If you are handy, and have a U Pull it type of yard near you, you can pull the seat switch off in a couple of minutes. It shouldn't cost more a several dollars. |

Just realize that any used one that you get you should open and clean the contacts. This is not a hard job but reassembly is a lot easier if you use some dielectric grease to hold the parts in place.
I would suggest reading this link just in case Check here http://www.rangerovers.net/repairdet...atcontrols.htm You may have to go to rangerovers.net and search from there but this site has some good info. Apparently MB and rover used the same switchs.

There is a link somewhere, that detailed the switch disassembly. The best tip i saw was to screw the switch to a block of wood--for stability--after removing the screw in the back, and before popping off the cover.
