Gold Label 300SDL on Craigslist

I wonder what the Gold Label indicates? Sounds like a Johnny Walker label?
For only $2K I suspect it looks a littel shabby or something, who knows it might have a good engine in it! Anybody near Plano TX want to check it out?

I'm not a fan of scotch, tastes like you're munching on some paper. Give me some Appleton and I'll be good.

That car is about an hour from me, I'll email the owner and get some scoop. I'm still trying to find one for my brother.

Glad to be able to find a member close enough to go see it, who knows it might be worth dickering on?
I remember Plano, in 1959 when I learned to drive, you left North Dallas on I75 (a two lane highwway) and it was a long empty drive to Richardson (there wasn't any LBJ Freeway/635 yet) then on to Plano where there was nothing but fields of black dirt and farms dotted the way. You could have bought land for 10 bucks an acre! Now its solid houses, condos and humanity.
Let us know what the Gold thingie looks like!

This area has changed quite a bit over the years that's for sure. Owning some of that property then unloading it would have been right nice.

Anyway, I've received a few emails regarding the "Gold Label" SDL

Just shy of 300K at 293K
Heat/AC work, still R12
Seems like timing chain is OE still
Apparently keeps up with basic maintenance
Suspension/Driveline are okay
Colors are Gold/Tan
Burns some oil but no leaks
Says take a bit of time to get going, so could need GPs

I'm awaiting some pics of the vehicle from the owner.

Guess they knew it was the "real deal" and made out of steel not fiberglass after they plowed it into that other car.

Curious to see...never really cared for gold colour...more of a black fan myself

Checked it out yesterday.

The Gold Label is all the badges/trim is gold. But it does have those Ronal 15" wheels that were so popular. I like those.

Anyway, it needs a timing chain BAD. The motor sounds awful. Very dirty, leaking valve cover. KKK turbo. No 14 head. Needs fan clutch. Driver seat is broken. Windows partly work (fuses I bet).

Suspension was okay, needs shocks. Paint looks great still, dash isn't cracked. Car is from AZ, still wearing those plates.

I'm going to let him sweat for a few days then offer him some cash for it.
