Fitting a pre-filter on my SD

Ok you guys suggested i put in a pre-filter because my SD doesnt have one for some odd reason so i went out and bought one at autozone, im trying to figure out were to put it. Im scared of just cutting and putting it on to find out that was a bad idea. So imma leave it to you guys to help me. Here are some pics were i think it should go but you guys are experts.

i highlighted in orange the hose im thinking of cutting to fit the pre filter. i also drew the line were im going to cut and the filter will be in between that.

Do you have the OEM type filter that has a 90 degree angle between the inlet and outlet? On mine it's installed a little closer to the pump. About 2 inches of (vertical) fuel line between the pump and the angled connection on the filter.

That's about where you want to place it. Just curious, why a Fram fuel filter, also, what is that wrapped around the filter. It looks like copper tubing.

Reason for the fram filter was because autozone didnt carry anything and i had to settle with the way overpriced $12.99 fram at kragen!! They were $3.99 for the Beck Arnley but autozone i guess sold out of them. Yes that is copper tubing around the fuel filter to heat it up because im running veggie oil in the car. But as you can see the copper tubing isnt fully in it because i changed the fuel filter in a rush and couldnt fit it back on after i changed the filter.

As for the other question yes it is the OEM filter as you described.

Filter Placement

That looks like the hose -- it's the one from the fuel tank, right? -- that carries the "primary" filter on my 240. I only pay $3-$4 max for this filter at NAPA -- and also the secondary (big can) filter is reasonably priced there. I believe they were less than $9 for both ...

It wouldn't hurt to prime this with the hand pump --- it won't fill completely, an air bubble at the top is normal -- should only take a few strokes.

I think you're OK to install it there. You probably won't need to pump the hand pump if you just cut the line and insert the filter. If the car doesn't start in about 15 seconds, give it a few pumps. Pay attention to the direction arrow on the filter. The end with the 90 degree bend should be the outlet.

I change or clean these by shaking out frequently as I'm still getting clogging on UCO (Used Cooking Oil with 10 % RUG). I get them from Fastlane for less than $2.00. I keep a small bottle of clean filtered UCO to fill the filter-suck oil in by mouth- before installing, and never need to pump at all. It takes about 5 minutes to clean or change. The one I'm using now has been cleaned out at least 5 times.

Ok...Ima kinda curious. Where do you plug into the coolant system with your Copper lines...and did your new pre-filter work out ok. If not I'd just keep cranking as the IP will pull fuel faster then the engine will run out of the fuel that is left in the IP whilst you disect the line. I wanna go vegan but don't know where best to get the coolant flowing hot and fast.

Worked out A ok!! cut the line and fitted the filter. But discovered a leak in one of the old rubber lines!! so i fixed that and it ran just fine. started right up with no problems.

To answer some coolent questions im not so sure about the whole system because i didnt install it the original owner of the car did. He made a wannabe greasel system. And all the copper tubing and heat exchange was already fitted and put in. It works tho everything heats up just fine. not sure if he put a heater in the fuel tank i hope he did because otherwise all im relying on is a heat exchange in the front along with the fuel filter heater!
