1984 300SD For Sale

Hey Folks,

My second 1984 300SD is up for sale. I've also posted this under the Classifieds Section. If I make no positive progress on this from the forum by Sunday, I'll shift it to eBay. For now, the sale is to forum members only. I'd really like to keep the car but realistically, I have no need for two cars that are exactly the same.

I have prepared a presentation for the car sale. It is very detailed and informative. I doubt anyone that reads the entire thing will have any questions to ask but if you do, don't hesitate to contact me.

Here it is: http://r.students.umkc.edu/rcofz9/Blue300SD/

Thanks.

Thanks for the positive comments. Well, I can't lie like other people do about my car. I wouldn't be able to live with it. Also, one has to be stupid to be dishonest about a car sold to a fellow forum member considering what kind of a community we are here. I really hope the car goes to a fellow forum member. I don't care if I just break even on it provided it goes to a fellow diesel lover.

Why couldn't this one have came up on the block say, in the springtime when I would probably have had the time and funds to pursue it seriously?

Oh well, best of luck to you on the sale.

Don

Do all the climate controls work? Windows? I can't remember if it is the 300SD or SDL that has the head/overheating problems. Any problems with this?

Some SDL's have a head cracking problem. That is a 6 cyl with an aluminum head. the SD is 5 cyl and has a cast iron head-very, very solid.

Like Pete said above, it is just the 300SDLs that are prone to cracked heads. But even then, ANY car can be overheated if the right conditions exist. I have an oil analysis to prove to excellent condition of my car. Furthermore, if you read the entire page, you'll see that it has a new head. I don't know why the head was replaced, it may have been overheated significantly and cracked.

It was bought by Don (username: Oilbrnr), a brand new user who just rolled onto the board. He is a diesel guy and can do lots of wrenching, thereby making him a perfect candidate for the car.

Good, Pete and I pointed him in your direction. I think Don will have a good time with that car.
