Uh the Bosch units I saw were new. Regardless, were not talking about something that wears out, other than the bulbs, unless I'm missing something here.

I'd have to believe that there are quality differences between Bosch and asian-x...

All lights wear out somehow. Bosch and Hella's (and all w123 and w126 euro lights, asian or not) lights have a quite a bit of plastic inside them- and plastic gets brittle and eventualy breaks. The rubber gaskets get old. The lense gets pitted. The reflector gets dull. The adjustment knobs don't adjust anymore...etc. New asian units are not a bad deal from what I've heard, but I'll stick with the OEM units I find in the yards here

BTW you can buy gaskets and lenses for real euro headlamps...

The reflectors, if properly maintained, do not nessisarily "wear out"

Its supposed to be clean and dry in there..the only way they would tarnish is if water got in there.

Remember we aren't talking about cheap japonese materials here Those reflectors are made of some pretty decent stuff. But fiding a pair that haven't been rust eaten it seems is tricky.

Scored my set up for 200 bucks...perfect reflectors (had the seller send me pictures of everything) and my lenses have zero defects. Even has the vac pod adjustment to go with my headlamp level adjustment knob

So... anyone have the Euros with the yellow reflector? I'd love to know the part number.

After seeing perhaps 40 sets of Bosch's and Hella OEM euros in the yards, I can say for certain they wear out. The plastic is the first to go, the reflector are next. Anything you maintain properly lasts longer, as you have said.

Ok, but that brings me back to my orginal question in this thread, are the Asian copies worth it or is it better to find OEM? Looks are one thing, but I'd like a better projection too.

Depends on your $ situation. Bosch new are like $600. Used in the $200 range. Asians give about the same light and looks new for $200. At that price range it's a toss up.

Or, can we make the reflectors yellow ourselves? I know the lenses are painted yellow too, and you can do that yourself with some special spray paint for lenses. I just love that look!

I Have W126 Euro Amber Fog Light Reflector Part Numbers!!!

Yes! I have found them, and I wasn't even looking for them, I came across them in a thread on another site while I was searching for something related to Euros that had nothing to do with fogs. Here you go Hit Man X and everyone else who wants them on their W126.
