Door clips replaceable?

I have never chased down a vaccum leak but now have one and want to do it myself.

The door locks on the passenger and both rear doors do not work with the key until the car has run a little and the transmission shifts are little hard. In the past, fixing the leaks has fixed both these problems.

Previous postings have indicated that if you are not careful, the plastic door clips will break when taking off the door panels. My cars are 26 and 30 years old and I have no doubt but that if I take off the panels, at least one clip will break.

Are these readily available? Are they interchangeable between several models of older cars (1977 240d and 1980 300sd)? I would like to get at least a few before tackling this job.

Here you go, for you W123.

As for the W116, I don't know if they'll work.

Joe

Thanks for the help. That link is excellent. They really have it together and make it easy to find anything you want. I saw some other parts I need too.

Having replaced the door clips on my car I would say it is like you get new door panels when you finish.

If you make a trip to the junkyard for something, grab all the door clips off the junkyard dogs you can find. They twist out. Thats what I have done, and I have a whole baggy full of them now. There free that way, the junk yard doesn't bother to charge you for them as long as you by other stuff.

It's not necessary to take the door panels off to diagnose vacuum leaks. With your MityVac, you can test them all from the lines in the floor. I wrote an extensive post that tells which lines go where.

Rick

Do you happen to remember the name of your post or about when you posted it? Is the diagram a "sticky" on this site or another?

Thanks
