Anybody with a 85 300SD ever run something through the firewall?
Has anybody here with an 85 300SD run some wire/etc through the firewall? I'm trying to install a boost gauge and need to run a pressure line int the passenger compartment. The only good spot I can find to run it through is on the passenger side and is going to run the tubing past my exhaust down tube. Any suggestions or pictures of a good spot to route it through would be of great help.
Thanks in advance Conn Clark |
look up where wires or A/C lines come through the firewall just push one through the same hole from inside...

There should already be holes with rubber gaskets around the hole through the firewall on each side of the car. It already has wires going through the holes. I had to run my amp power cable through it so I know its there.

Drivers side, right behind the fusebox there is a rubber gasket with vac lines going in/out of it, that leads right into the upper drivers side dash, I ran my wiring and tubing for boost/temp gauges right through there and down into the console, worked great. :D

On the 83 240D and all so on my 87 300SDL there are extra spaces in the rubber gromet that the wires and vac lines go thru there are little tips stickking out just clip one off and you can run your wires thru.

I used a dremel to take off the little piece of rubber....then again I also use a dremel to open my mail.....maybe I should stop that...... |
Use the stock gromets in the fuse box since that is what they are THERE for.
Run it through there then enjoy the huge 4inch conduit into the cabin after you get inside the fuse box. Super easy to do...and its sealed from the weather too! :) |
