I just put new motor mounts and transmission mount in my friend’s 1985 300 Turbodiesel. I pulled out the driver’s side motor shock and it was worn out and in need of replacement. He did not get the shocks and said he didn’t want to bother with replacement since he said the car runs quite smooth, shake and shudder free.

Is it critical to replace them or are they somewhat redundant?
