Mixed Injectors ??

O.K. , I pulled out my injectors to-night and I have three different styles and brands , two have " NA30X " on black plastic bands , one has " NA33X " and two don't say " Germany " on them.....

Maybe I found the reason for my off and on smoking ? .

For which, the 81 or 78? Guess it doesn't matter, but Bosch injectors, the only injectors made for your MB cars, should be of a matched, or balanced set of 5.......destictive to your engine.

Each of your injectors should be set to pop identical to the next in the set for your engine. Go to a diesel shop and they will have a tester and can set each injector to pop at the same pressure.......your engine will have more power and run smoother........excessive smoke can be generated from other issues beginning with dirty fuel filters.

Angry Well SHOOT

I hear you , that's why I took 'em out ~ to have tested & adjusted , here's what we found :

ALL had a pop off pressure of 1,500 # or _LESS_ , we made up a nice set of identical ones all set to pop off @ 1,700 # (within 5 ~ 10 # of each other)

I already cleaned the entire fuel system , I Diesel purged the IP untill it was squeaky clean , replaced all the filters , adjusted the valves , oil & filter , everything just to make sure all was ' just so ' before I began fooling with the injectors , it's been running O.K. (not great) and starting well in the cool mornings (40*) but the engine shook & smoked @ idle .

It was running fine when I took the injectors out last night , I just re-installed them and primed the IP (60 strokes) and it won't start

I tried cycling the glowplugs twice & thrice but it hits a bit but won't start .

Smoke coming out the exhaust and the GP's are blistering hot (blister on my finger now from checking) so I dunno what I missed or goofed up .
