A/C compressor wont shut off on 1985 300d

Ok yet another A/C issue. On an 85 300d I installed a new compresor, expansion valve, drier etc. As with the other compressor, the A/C compressor gets power all the time the key is on or in the run position. Removed Klima relay still powered, disconnect the high and low pressure switch, still power to the compressor. Turn off the climate control in dash, still power to the comp.

Unless I disconnect the power at the clutch, the compressor runs ALL the time, not good.

Anybody had this issue?

The 85 uses a Klima relay that is only used on that one year. It is $250. What I dont understand is that even when I remove the relay, there is still power to the compressor.

I found 2 problems. 1 was some previous hack hot wire the compressor harness to come one anytime the key was in the on or run position. That is what killed the last compressor. 2nd is the egr computer had lots of corrosion on the terminals. Cleaned it and the tack now works and the compressor turn on and off normally.

The EGR computer and I use that term loosely, is located behind the passenger side panel kick plate. I guess technically it is just a solid state circuit board. I don't understand why Mercedes installed it only in the 85 models. Lots of R&D just to use it in one model year.
