99 E300 Turbodiesel ASD

Does anyone know if the traction control can be shut off on these vehicles? The one I drove did not change no matter if I pushed the button or not. It really cuts the fuel when it is active.

If you mean the ASR, I can turn it off with the console switch on my 98E300turbodiesel. When it is off,the yellow triangle symbol with the exclamation mark in it, lights up on the dash and stays on until I turn the switch on again or shut the car off. The car is a real rocket with the switch off. Enjoy.

I'll agree that turning ASR can be a blast. However, watch it. I wound up fishtailing across two lanes one day in a left turn with ASR off and gunning it thru the turn. I overcompensated and fought it coming back before regaining control. Fortunately, nobody was beside me and the road was wide. That turbo is a mean beast when it spins up ! (98 E300)
