WOW 82 300SD 40,000 miles?!?!?!

It looks good in the picture, but for a 40,000 '82, the seller isn't making much of a big deal about it.

i wouldnt be surprised

if it is an odd ball euro spec car with a six gas and no ac.

cant think of any reason for the ambiguous description and no statement on the motor.

definately suspiciious to me.

0 feedback. Member since the day before the auction. Picture is from back in May, via the date stamp.
All adds up to a vehicle I wouldn't want to lay any $ down on.....
Bidder beware.....

Has anyone run the VIN #?

It IS a vin for a 1982 300SD thats about all I know. Most likely a complete repaint, at least the bumpers and cladding have been repainted

He states that it is a diesel in the description.

I'm sure the 40K is not legit or is a typo. Might even be 400K if it's a Texas car.

The car shows to have a bonded title, and was sold to the last owner for 198 dollars

Yes, I too have noticed that some people use the mileage statement on the auction that is supposed to be ONLY for the vehicle to be that of the rebuilt engine or replaced engine.

Also, what exactly is a "bonded" title? Does that mean the title was lost or something and "title company" filed bogus papers or something to get a new one reissued?

Exactly,

A bonded title is a replacement issued when the original title is lost. Considering the PIA of red tape you have to go through to get a bonded title, that should not be a detriment.

It is nearby for me so if you are interested, I can go take a look at it. In DeSoto, it may be part of someone's estate and end up being a cherry.

Usually in Texas, if the title is in fact lost and your name is on it, you can get a certified copy. Bonded titles are usually issued when a person buys a car, sans title. You have to contact DOT, get paperwork and post a bond, after 3 years, the bond falls off and its a 'clean' title again.

The bonded title is like a normal title, except it protects you in case the previous title owner comes back to ask for the car.
