Red face Are all 123 radiators the same size?

I just bought a 300D, after being eight months without a mercedes diesel. But I bought a cheap one with problems,

Are all 123 radiators the same size? Are Turbos radiators the same size as N/A. Mine new car is a 79. Because I'm not yet sure about sinking money into the new car, I'm going to cruise the junkyards, and would like to know if all of the radiators are the same size.

No, they are different. The 240D is even different from the 300D non turbo.

Turbo model has a different radiator. It has the remote coolant reservior. I believe it can be made to fit an earlier 300D provided you have the remote reservior and all the associated parts.

It seems all the non-turbo units are very similar. I'm using an older 300D radiator in my 240D with a turbo engine, no problems.

i know you you dont want to sink money into it - but if you need to get new - or want new - i would suggest going custom!

Radiators from the diesel engines are narrower to allow the oil cooler to sit beside them, so don't use a 230E or 280E rad for your 240D or 300D.
