monovalve diaphragm source?

I had a bad monovalve diaphragm so I ordered the monovalve repair kit from Fastland ($50) and replaced it today. It seems to me to be a pricey replacement given the fact that it was only a bad diaphragm. The diaphragm is press fitted to the brass screen assembly that is clipped to the end of the monovalve. The only thing that really needed to be replaced was the diaphragm/screen assembly. Anyone know a source for just a diaphragm and screen? It seems like a waste of money to replace the whole electromagnet mechanism if it's not bad.

By the way, the assembly flew apart before I closely noted the order of the washers. Did I get it right? Thin metal washer on top, springy metal washer in the middle and heavy metal washer on the bottom (nearest the diaphragm)?

That price is much more frugal friendly. I've read a lot of those posts, but I still haven't seen a source for just the diaphragm. Just on principle, I'd prefer to repair only the damaged part instead of replacing additional functional items.
Since a person can buy diaphragms for the vacuum pods, I don't see why a diaphragm for the monovalve should be anymore of a problem.

Thumbs up

You could always get a used one from the boneyard if you want to be quite fiscally responsible.

I have found two recently replaced monovalve guts there, granted it takes some searching...

Same place gave me Euro lights, a No 17 head, among other things... and two new 603 air filters (those were free).

I recently did my monovalve and it sprung apart on me too, before I could check the position of all the washers - doh! Next time (which their hopefully won't be) I'll be more careful. Anyways after looking it over the only way I could see for putting it back together was large diameter washer on top - this matches exactly the circumference of the sleeve around the solenoid coil and would seem to prevent it from slipping once installed, then wavy washer and then the other one. I check the operation of the solenoid before reinstalling by hooking it directly up to the battery.

BTW got mine from ************** for $50.
