You mean the brown 116 300sd that TX Bill imported from Ohio?

I believe Bill got rid of it because the iron moths were eating it up.

I think all those old threads got deleted though.

That's the one. Eduardo was just BMB (before Mercedes Benz) for moi...I thought I'd heard that the rust got it but couldn't recall. FWIW, the 115 parts car I bought from Bill was pretty bad off as well. Fred Flintstone would feel right at home in it.

Has the smoke got in yer eyes at Ignert Ridge?

Out at RanchoNoDinero, the closest fires have been on the other side of the county or in the next county. It's drier than a popcorn fart though, and no rain in the 7 day forecast. Usually around this time of the year we get one or two hella storms that wet our whistle, but not this year.

Here in the big city, a house a couple blocks away burned last week. Not drought related though. I imagine it was the usual busted heat exchanger.

Someone barely a mile north of Berry Hill managed to torch about 200 acres the weekend before Christmas. I was out on the tractor, saw the smoke after I'd left my north pasture and thought I'd set it ablaze with the tractor's muffler but realized pretty quickly that it wasn't that close.

By the time I rounded-up SWMBO, loaded some shovels and other tools in the pickup, the Milano VFD's tanker was passing by....this had to be at least 20 minutes after I first spotted smoke. It was under control at that point; Gause and Hoyt VFDs were already there.

I think I remember Eduardo. Wasn't he from the Houston area with lots of 116 a/c questions?

It's dry here as well. If someone flicked a cigarette in my bar ditch, I would be in the midst of flames in no time. The county extension agent says that we are in the worst drought since 1956.

Paul, how far are you from the Mineral Wells airport? That was quite a bonfire.

Happy New Year,

Larry

Miserable Wells is 1 or 2 counties away, depending on how you count it.

I remember looking at an old Ponton diesel basket case out by MW airport a few years ago. I bet that place is probably gone now.

I think it was 2 years ago, or maybe 3, a big fire got within about 5 miles.

My town is protected by a volunteer fire department also, but not to worry. They haven't lost a foundation yet......

Funny thing is, in Parker County, it's the VFD's who sell the fireworks around holidays. I guess they are trying to generate new business.

Of course.

Bill,
Nellybell the 240D is doing great. She's curently my daughter's transportation while finishing her last year in engineering school and is bravely dealing with the geriatric issues that we all have to bear: fan speed control crudded up and only worked on low (or not at all), noisy speedo cable and, a set of subframe bushings are in her future. Otherwise, she's dead solid perfect.

She's achieved a certain level of notariety at Trinity U, by being what has to be the OLDEST car in the student parking lot. When Thing Two was still living on campus, Nell would sit literally, for weeks on end, eagerly firing-off after a brief yank of her gorilla knob for the intermittent drives back home. I had some fun the other day when my ex-wife called and needed know how to start and move Nell (Thing Two is taking winter break in Idaho with THing One). My ex has to be the most unmechanically-minded person on the planet and she was needing to start a vehicle with a gorilla knob!

This spring, I'm giving Thing Two my W123 Euro 240 as a graduation gift so that I can once again, have Nell all for myself.

Nell is a fantastic car, thanks for taking such great care of her.

Thanks for the info on the 240d I really loved that car glad to see her doing so well. Had to sell her because to many cars and the wife could not drive her because of a back problem, hurt her leg. Did not want her to just sit, cars that just sit just rot away. Any way the wife just finished a rehab in spinal decompression and after 23 years of pain the pain is gone. This is quite amazing. So i mite be in the market for a standard transmission car.
If an body want the info on the back rehab let me know.
Bill
