Post Valve Adjustment Problems

After I adjusted my valves before New Years and got my banjo bolt pressure line in and greased up my muffler and everything Im pretty satisfied with how the car runs. There are however some problems that I didnt have before, vacuum issues. THe door locks/trunk lock dont work, and the engine won't shut off after removing the key. The brake booster works, the transmission shifts great, and all heating and stuff works though. I have been under the hood for a couple hours looking for anything that might have gotten disconnected but I haven't found anything... im stumped. Anyone got any ideas?

There are two lines that come off you main vac line (the thick one that runs between the pump and the brake booster). One goes to the engine shutoff and the cabin accessories (including locks, climate control). This one is located most towards the cabin. The other controls transmission and EGR. If the problem is sudden, it's probably not a leak and most likely a disconnected hose somewhere. I would have a hard time believing that the Valve adjustment itself had anything t do with your problem (except maybe a clumsy mechanic, no offense to you. I myself am a clumsy mechanic...or at least clumsy). I'd start by pulling the TWO lines going to your locks, and make sure you are not disconecting the shutoff (all three run through teh firewall), and plugging the holes where they were removed. If your engin shuts down, it's in the locks. Otherwise, it could be in the shutoff valve itself. Lots of info on this site to help you. If you are stumped and need additional help, PM me, andf tommorow morning I should be able to help you. Good luck!

Once, I accidentally pulled the small brown vacuum line from the black rubber doohickey (technical term), and it didn't shut off with the key anymore. I just pushed it back in and it was cured. It's near the firewall on the driver's side.

I seem to remember that everytime that an oil change was done on the W123, a vacuum line would separate and the engine would not shutoff with the key.

Happened more than a couple of times until I finally remembered to connect it back up.

Yeah, I found one of the 4 way connectors that tees off from the brake booster line broken, so i went down to the dealer and paid 11.20 after taxes for a new 4 way connector Engine shuts off instantly and door locks work perfectly/quickly..

How come the new connector looks all washed out and whiteish? New parts not as good as the original stuff?

They have some type of white powder on them. It rubs off, but, it's not so easy to do it. Who knows??
