vacuum line sourcing

Can any type of plastic tubing be used? Flexible or hard? Airline tubing for fish tanks, etc?

Or does it need to be a specific type of vacuum hose?

Thanks,
Dunl

Not nessesarily a certain type, but each color has a different inner dimension, creating different psi at different points in the system. Checlk out the parta at *************** to see what I mean.

So I could use any type, and color code it myself if I wished?

I would try to pull some off a junkyard car. It would be easy that way.

I wouldn't use fish tank tubing under the hood, I think it would be too hot. But, for running on the interior, I'd say you'd be good to go, if the dimensions are right and you can get a good seal.

Buy it new, its cheap enough. If you use boneyard stuff, be sure to blast the inside clean with brake cleaner. Many have drawn oil into them at some point in their lives.

Sounds good. I do have some temporary fishline tubing, but I made sure it's tidied up and out of the way on the firewall away from anything hot, going from the newly cleaned banjo bolt to the crossover valve.

I'll get some new stuff, mine is obviously original, as it cracked in two when trying to put the banjo back in.

I cant find the different colored hardlines at fastlane, or AZ...

Mainly i want the black hardline, but I'm to the point where I'm accually going to see if the line holds vacuum (i hate reusing cheap stuff)
Cant find the Black, Yellow, or Green line at either place... Grr

Okay, looked at a few places today up here in Canada, and all they had was some vinyl tubing. Do I need a special type of tubing, one that is rated for the heat from the engine, etc.

I don't want to be sticking something in there that is going to burn up, or leave a gooey mess on everything. I want something that works.

Any Canucks know where to get some replacement vacuum hose? (Princess Auto has some clear braided vinyl, but way too large. )

Lots of vacuum tube options at Autohaus...

I'm still looking for somewhere locally to pick up vacuum line - basically all sizes. Mine keep breaking they are so brittle, and they look original.

Any Canucks on here that can point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
Dunl
