I have access to free Jet-a (kerosine)
Does anybody know if I can use it in my car, and if there are any negative side effects. |

I think I remember a previous thread on this. Have you tried a search?

Don't Bother...
If you value your car, don't burn any fuel except approved Diesel #2. My Mercedes manual is quite specific on this subject: " ...Adding kerosene to No. 1-D diesel is not recommended even at low temperatures. The use of further additives is not recommended." They are talking about just ADDING it to No. 1-D diesel fuel!!! You may add it to #2-D diesel in quantities up to 50% in ambient temperatures below -10°C/+14°F, but only to "avoid malfunctions" experienced as a result of "paraffin separation" They also add that, "Engine power may drop according to the proportion of kerosene added to the minimum necessitated by the ambient temperature."
There may be some who would suggest adding motor oil or even ATF to the kerosene to make it "palatable" to your diesel Mercedes, but my advice would be to forget it. Kerosene is great jet fuel, and lousy diesel fuel.:p
