has anyone replaced 80 climate control with 81

Has anyone ever tried to replace the 1980 300D climate control panel
and under hood hot water control with a 1981 version.

Besides switching interior control panels and swapping the 80 AC Servo unit
with the simple 81 valve pump combo there would be some vacuum line
changes.

Any ideas ?

If you had a '81 parts car and a lot of time I'm sure its possible.....but you will be swapping every climate control component from one to the other...

It won't be easy....nor will it be quick.....not a project for the faint of heart.

But oh, how I would love to put an old style no-frills "hot or cold" system into my car to replace my nonfunctional ACC.

If you would love old style no frills, then simply find a 240D in the salvage yard with manual controls. I fully expect that it would be much easier to make this change than to change from the early Chrysler system to the later monovalve system.

Good luck,
