Power windows and seats fail simultaneously
My wife and I purchased a '93 MB 300D 2.5 Turbo a couple of years ago. It had 155K on the odo then and is closing in on 200K now. We are delighted with this car!
This site is a tremendous resource--I've been lurking, searching and purchasing parts from Phil. The search function has enabled me to (1) diagnose a blower motor problem (it was an imperceptible crack in the fuse by the left shock tower); (2) replace the viscous fan clutch (and serp belt, while were there); (3) replace an aux fan; and (4) replace the serp belt tension dampener. None of this would have been possible without the technical info gleaned from this site. My current problem occurred a couple of days ago, but an extensive search has failed to produce a duplicate experience by someone else. None of the power windows (nor the sunroof) will raise or lower with the console switches (lock-out is disabled), but the entry key will simultaneously raise and lower all four windows. At the same time the window operation ceased, the power seats stopped working except when the driver's door is open, and then all seat switches operate normally. I've followed the "electrical gremlins" procedures, including replacing all the fuses, with no joy. Where should I look next? Bob Hester '93 300D 2.5L Turbo |
