I need opinions.

I'm going to take the leap of faith and buy my first diesel mercedes. I want a 300SD or 300SDL.

I found one 1984 300SD with a locked up motor according to him. It didn't have much oil in it. Has anyone ever locked one of these up and got it unlocked. He wants $600 for it. I think it's really only good for parts. But it is complete.

The other is also a 1984 300SD with 156,000 mile on it. But something weird is wrong with it because when yon turn it off it doesn't stop running so it is still getting fuel somehow someone said it has to do with the vacum pump. He did have the transmissionrebuilt though. He wants 1900.

You just dont unlock a motor that locked up without oil. That will have to be rebuilt or you will have to get a used engine. The other car not shutting off is a vacuum problem or the shut off vacuum control is bad. Do basic vacuum troubleshooting.

If your a DIY guy, buy them both (offer 400 for the broken one of course ) 1900 sounds cheap for the one with the vacuum problem that proly isnt as problem, like Diesel Giant said. Having a parts car the same year is handy, wouldnt be the same color?..that would be toooo lucky

I'd say if the only thing wrong with the second car is it won't shut off then I'd go for it. If you can get a good running car for $1900 as opposed to $600 for one with a locked engine I'd take the more expensive one any day. You'll save at least that much in $$$, time, and headaches if you go with the good, running car.
