manual trans conversion kit for sale

For the stick-shift aficionados here. Came across this. NO AFFLIATION whatsoever – who knows, maybe this ad is from someone here? Then again, who knows if this will actually fit and/or work properly as claimed.

I've got one of these for sale as well. Everything EXCEPT the flywheel at least. I'm sure I could cut someone a better deal than $750 if they're interested too.

so you are saying that i could make my 300D a manual for less than 750, when my auto trans dies? for that price i am supprised that more people on this forum have not done that already. if my trans died or i had the money right now, i would jump on this in a heartbeat.

The only problem with this idea is all the parts are used. Unless it's somebody that you could trust (like from the Shop Forum) or you can testdrive the donor vehicle first, you won't know if it's good or not. It could leak, a syncro could be worn out, a bearing might be worn and vibrate, or could even have damaged teeth and have gear whine. It's a risk, but if you can swap out the old slushbox it will be worth the trouble.

it sounds like he has them all.

except for changing the length of the driveshaft if nec.

the trannys are really tough. so i wouldnt obsess over the likelyhood of problems with that. maybe a new pp and disc and perhaps to bearing too.

good luck

i have an extra flywheel and brand new 9" clutch and pp. the fw is from a 280sl so it is light for a diesel. 18# vs 28#.

Wonder how much work and expertise is needed for the conversion. Motorwerks in MI has done a conversion of a W123 300D 3.0L 5 cyl Turbodiesel to a 4-speed manual No pictures or details, but it is in their website. I bet they will charge $$$ for the conversion. Anybody knows about this company?

my indie

has recently quoted to me to convert my 300cd from automatic to manual including removing the tranny from my 280e and shortening the ds about $1000. me supplying all parts. they charge $67/ hr.now so do the math and you will find, what, about 15 hours?

the ds was about $200 so maybe more like 12 hours. actually this sounds like a little too much time to me. but 8 to 12 hours would seem about right to me.

A car-part.com search shows several manual flywheels available from $33.95 to $135. I guess I would probably have to send it to you via Forward Air and maybe UPS the smaller parts? How close to Searcy is Little Rock?
