I was reading the Mercedes-Benz Club UK magazine this week, and they reviewed the new S400CDi. It sounds fantastic. Apparantly on the Autobahn it out pulled an Audi A8 4.2, because of the huge amounts of tourque.
I will scan the review and get it posted for everyone.

When I returned from Stuttgart last week, I have been passed by a S400CDI...I was doing 180-190km/h and was given the idea of just being slow traffic!!!

That car made me drool...

However: complete different stories are the first sold models of the S400CDI. The first models have a lot of problems to deal with and it is definitely not uncommon that one will suffer a lot of (compu-related) breakdowns that result in a complete break down of the car's engine.

The boss of my neighbor (he works at the nearby MB dealer) has a S400CDI as well and has a very often-used wrench #13 to get going... The battery of that S400CDI needs to be disconnected to get the compu reset itself after every breakdown it suffers (13 in 15.000km!!!).

Usually the radio does not work at all which is caused by an undiscoverable compu problem as well...

Nevertheless: the car looks great when it passes by with approx. 240km/h!!
