Just found 85 D with 85,000mi.

I hope I just found my next M-B. an 85 300D.
I was just pickin up my pails of WVO from in back of the Sushi restaurant; and always see this white 300D parked behind another restaurant nearby.
So today I stopped to see condition. Only 85K on the odometer, so I go in the kitchen door and ask whose it was. Belongs to a cook who's had it for 4 years, got it from the origiinal owner for 2,000 and some house painting.

The inside is in mint shape, with a dark blue MB Tex and uncrushed seat springs! And aside from a small dent below the rear pass. door, the outside is very clean, no rust nice paint.

Chat it up and he's selling it in a couple of months, so he asks for my #, and I will be checking in with him every week.. I have a good feeling he won't be asking much more than he paid. I could get used to white.

sounds nice

white is a color that is pretty high on the safe colors list and doesnt show dirt much.

one of my favorite colors to own.

not the most fun to look at though

Good show, dont let that one get away. I like that color combo as well. Finding a really nice W123 is a score even at what might be consider an "inflated" price. I know what it cost in time and $ to make them look and drive good, I would much rather pay a little more for a "nice' one. Good luck, ..so dont be bumbed if he wants more than 2K

You best jump on that

White 300D

I think the W123 looks great in white. Best of luck with your find.

If I have the chance I won't let it get away at $3,000. +
I could easily put $1,000 into my 85 and it wouldn't come close to this condition, let alone less 210,000 miles.
I paid $1,900. for mine a year ago and have put $1,000 into it in fuel filters...(-:

I think it'd still be a deal at twice the price you have in mind.

Even three times the price would be a good deal for an 85,000 mile car...if he hasn't neglected it, ie missed oil changes or used wvo. I wouldn't bother with a car that has been using wvo.

$6K is really in line with a car of this mileage provided the interior hasn't deteriorated from sitting in hot sun or the paint hasn't weathered like most of the silver cars do. Gold is bad for that too.
I saw a 300D with 80K on it, sitting outside a market. I was checking it out when the owner came up and we chatted, he bought it at the recommendation of his daughter, he was in his 70's or 80's and I didn't have the heart to ask if he planned to sell it (because my wife was with me at the time and I would have been kicked or punched or yelled at!)
Boy it was cherry though! Painted deep blue and I can still see the nearly factory fresh appearance of the interior.
My advise is you Better GRAB IT or you'll be kicking yourself for a long time!
Oh, find some Japanese friends to go along and tell him he's such a great sushi chef!

1985 300TD 229130
1987 300D Smoked Silver 266020
1987 300D Nautical Blue 264087 SHE LIVES AGAIN!

I will stay in touch with this guy.
The interior looked totally clean, no rips or cracks. The exterior is white, and didn't see any fading or rust. Well taken care of.
He changes oil every 3-4 months, and it's used for local commuting only.
