300SDL Burning oil

My 300SDL has 180K miles on it and is burning oil. I see no blow-by smoke coming out of the valce cover when I take off the oil cap. Air filter has been changed and there appears to be no problem with the engine getting air, but she is consuming about a quart of oil evey 150 - 200 miles. What are possible sources of oil consumption in a 300SDL - injector pump, ... ?

A broken oil ring could do it for one.

With no blowby, I'd almost bet a dollar that you have the identical problem.

Yeah I didn't read the part where he said he was burning a quart every 150-200 miles! Just order a rebuilt turbo and swap it in.

Actually, he's still safe at that level. When the oil starts disappearing at 1 quart every 20 miles, that's the exact time to pull over and park it.

At one quart per 20 miles I'd be calling AAA for a flat bed!

At least all the engine internals will be getting nice and lubbed with that much oil going through it.

Yep, that's what I had to do. Damn, I have AAA and I didn't even think of using it.
