Your Opinions Please

Ok. First off thanks to dkveuro for telling me about this place

Recently I've been in the marked for a good W123 body with something like a bad motor or tranny to make it cheap, around $500 or less, to do an engine swap with my wrecked '85. I went to a local junkyard that had about 40 cars that had all been picked over. I was a little disapointed until I noticed in the very back, surrounded by weeds, a car exactly like my '85, same color inside and out. The body's in great shape but the interior's trashed. I don't really care about that because its the exact same color as my rear-ended car so I can swap everything over. I noticed only one tiny rust spot on the hood and nowhere else but it occured to me today that I forgot to check for the brown death under the car. What's the odds that it will be pretty rusty underneath after having been sitting for about five years? I know this will be a gigantic undertaking but that doesn't scare me off. I'm ready for the fact that I may have to rebuild this car from the ground up and all it does is excite me. I can't wait to pull the motor and tranny from my wrecked car and go at them. Anyway the wrecked car costs $500 plus the cost to get it home. Its really the diamond in the ruff in that junkyard. I really want to jump on this. Your thoughts?

If the interior is trashed, it would indicate that the car was likely not well maintained across the board. So suspension, fuel system and electricals could be at risk. You are already going to use your drive train and interior. Not much else to worry about but the rust question. Of course the rust problem would likely be a deal killer, but here in Okla rust is not usually severe.

Ps: drop me an e-mail and let me know where this place is.

I think the interior is just so bad because this thing has been in a junkyard and the inside and motor have been picked at for a few years. I'm assuming the worst right now, that nothing will work. I'm kind of hoping I get to rebuild this car from the ground up so I'll really know it inside out. I'll PM you about where this place is.
