do you think this is a good/bad idea?
I was at kragen today buying some power service anti-gel for my mercedes since its getting close to feezing temps (SF may have its first snow!! yes! )
And i stopped and took a look at the fuel filters, and i bought a fuel filter similar to this one on ebay. I replaced the plastic prefilter with this one, what do you guys think yay or ney? Ive already put it on and it runs the same and i wanted it for better filtering just incase i didnt filter the wvo all that well. http://cgi.ebay.com/2-x-Fuel-Filter-VW-Camper-Beetle-Golf-Polo-Any-Carb_W0QQitemZ4614367499QQcategoryZ27385QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I used an additional filter with the two tank system I have in my 85 300D right at the extra fuel tank. It depends on the micron rating of the filter you plan on using. If it is a finer filter then you should be OK. I would suggest just adding it before the stock prefilter so you will have the added protection plus you won't have to spend the extra money on the OEM filters.

I believe a acceptable filter rating is 10 microns...a better one would be 5 microns. from what i have read if there are particles that will damage injectors they are between 7 and 9 microns...i think the stock ones are 10 microns though that is typical

Not sure on the micron's its a Fram G12, on the filter it has the arrowing pointing out saying "to carburetor" looks like what my dad put on his 66 mustang when he upgraded to an edelbrock carb.

I admit I don't know much about running a car on corn squeezins, but I don't think a small filter with a paper element is going to last very long in that application.

I used those kinds of filters right before my Vormax filter when I was trying to diagnose my fat-clogging problems(wasn't cold filtering). They always did a great job of catching a good deal of the fat, enough to save the big expensive filters. I'm not sure of their micron rating but they did pull the fat out of the oil. In my opinion they're cheap and seemed to work well.
